Mark began playing music with the Trombone at the age of 13. He played throughout middle and high school until eventually selling his trombone to purchase his first drum. He fell in love with Middle Eastern drumming after seeing Issam Houshan perform at the first Belly Dance Superstars concert in Birmingham in 2004. In May of 2004 he started taking classes with Ryan Morrison, of Karachi Rocket, and quickly found his place with the group as a doumbek player. Since becoming a member of Karachi Rocket, in 2004, he has performed for various events throughout the Magic City, including Art Walk, Tribal Rites, and more recently the Alabama Dance Council. He has drummed for several local dance troupes as well as multiple guest performers. Mark has taken workshops and classes from both Issam Houshan and Tobias Roberson and continues to learn from well known percussionists every chance he gets.
